Can you measure the wire that's there, or is it totally missing?
My guess? 12 or 14 gauge, thicker is always better. I'd just get the heaviest braided wire that your local shop sells (it will be 10 or 12 gauge) in a few colors (red, black, green maybe) and run that.

So, I ended up getting a 12 for the battery; and I figured out that the original wire was a 14. The repairs went smooth as some of the wiring had been overloaded or something, it was all melted together. I am going to test all of the electrical s*** and make sure that nothing is going to cause that to happen again. I'm getting a spark out of it though, and the starter is working as well.
Now, all I need to get is gas to the engine, and it should start. Hopefully I will have enough compression.
