Carb to intake space

So reassembling my scooter I over tighten the short bolt going into the carb. If I leave the spacer out I can just throw a nut on the end of the screw. Would it be okay to leave it out or no?
Its a 1988 sa50

longer bolt?

leave the spacer. it is a thermal barrier and should be there.
new best 1/8th mile time 9.647 seconds @67.155 mph 310lbs total weight

I use nuts on my carb bolts with the spacer in.

i stipped the thread on the carb on the long bolt in the end i just tapped the carb holes from the stock 6mm to 7mm got some new bolts and thats it back up and riding again havent had a issue since altho i use a mini tourqe wrench now so i dont over tighten the bolts on anything :peace:
