is the battery needed?

Post by fizzle »

howdy everyone, i just got a spree, and i've put in a bunch of money, and an extra 20 or 30 dollars on a battery is definately going to put me over the edge. So my question is do you need a battery for the scoot to run?
i had a 91 dr250 maybe 6 years back, and i had the battery but it was dead and i could pop start it (had no kick). But my spree doesn't even have a battery so do i need one to close the circuit?
has anyone tried runing theirs without a battery at all?
thanks for your time

MC's usually blow the headlights if you run them w/o batteries... will the Spree do the same?

I blew my headlights and speedo light running without a battery. However I didnt have a voltage regulator either. So I'm not sure which caused the blowage. I would get a battery to be safe rather than sorry.

if your gonna put money into it you might as well finish what you started and do it right, not having could only lead to more problems, which means more $$$$$$$$$$!

well dennis krook lists a parts unlimited one for around 16 dollars maybe 16.99, and i think that most parts dealerships sell stuff for around the same price - so its totally possible.
dennis kirk isn't that cheap -
but i love lookin' in catalogs.
