needle clip setting?

I have a 94 elite sa50 with a daywot 66cc bbk stock carb 110jet and a uni-filter and on cold start up it loads up and I have to really hit the throttle to clear it out. but after I do that it runs great and no more problems till I let it sit for a while. I didn't know if the needle clip setting has to do with this issue or what else it can be? I do have the clip at the lowest setting. I didn't want to laod the pipe up with crap and have to burn it over the fire again.

are you running stock oil pump, sometimes it starts to leak oil in the crankcase.

Oh and the needle clip has nothing to do with cold start anf anythin below 1/4 throttle anf not much there either.

If that were the case it would smoke like crazy and since he did not mention smoking I doubt very much if oil has anything to do with hos issue. The oil pump crapping out is rare at best and should never even be concidered unless there is an excessive smoke problem.

on my elite after sitting for a while took some time to clear out or burn off the excess oil do to the oil pump leaking. it was just a thought.

And like I said it is not something that happens a lot. UNLESS there is EXCESSIVE SMOKE it ain't a frickin' oil issue and he made no mention of smoke. Quit trying to sell your rare occurance as an everyday issue, it isn't. If it is an oil issue it is obvious. :roll:

Bear, it might not be so rare. My wifes 2000 does the same thing tw39515 is describing. Gotta clear it out at startup after sitting a few days then it runs great. Let's see what ZMUD says about extra smoke and go from there, he did mention he don't want to load the pipe up with crap and have to burn it over the fire again.

Even if we produce 100 cases of a leaking oil pumps, just how many scooters are out there that are not having issues. The number of bad pumps is in the .0001% range (probably less), it is rare and is alway accompanied by excessive smoke if the thing will run and if it won't run it is either hydro-locked or the plug is totally oil fouled. So again if it runs and does not excessively smoke, IT AIN'T THE d*** OIL PUMP! Just because it happened to you does not make it common. :roll:

DID I SAY IT'S COMMON? NO!! My wifes elite DOES run and it runs GREAT!! It DOES NOT smoke excessively ALL the time, only after CLEARING IT OUT at start up AFTER sitting a few days. Maybe...just maybe, ZMUD IS getting excessive smoke but DID NOT mention it! Why don't you wait for his reply before attacking me? Oh yeah, you gotta attack, it's The Bear! How about you be in charge of resolving everyones issues and the rest of us just sit back. :twisted:

evil, it sound more like an over rich situation than an oil pump issue, because excess oil HAS to smoke when it burns and if it is in the crankcase it will be pumped into the cylinder and burned. I suspect your trouble shooting skills are less than you wish they were. :roll:

I did forget to metion that there is a decent amount of smoke and start up but I figured that was caused by it load'n up. I don't pre-mix after I did break in on the new cyclinder but I am running the stock oil pump. I don't think my oil pump is bad because of my plug being a perfect color. The scoot runs perfect and fly's just trying to figure out the only problem I have.

the pump isnt bad it could just have a slow leak letting oil build up after sitting a while.
