wow im gettin mad, help please

Post by Mike »

spree will idle nice, and when i give it gas it wont accelerate, even tho you can hear the engine trying to. ive cleaned the carb out multiple times and im positive that a dirty carb isnt the issue. and the carb is set to the standard settings according to the manual. the spree ran beautifully without the factory air filter but now it just sucks terribly. idk if its getting too much air flow or not enough. REALLY MAD ABOUT THIS WHOLE DEAL BECAUSE I BOUGHT THE AIR FILTER TO HELP NOT MAKE IT WORSE.

while its running, spray the motor with carb cleaner in all the areas where there are connections. intake manifold, carb spigot, head gasket, base gasket, ect. seeif you have a leak. if theres a leak the idle will drop when you spray the area. check each piece one at a time and thuroughly.

Did it run without the airfilter, accellerating up to 25 MPH or so?

alright, it wouldnt accelerate because the drive belt was bad, i put a new one on so now its accelerating great... now my problem is that it will run good for about 70 yards and then it will start to stall like its not getting enough gas. its a 1986 so i have the air screw at 1 1/2, the idle speed screw is at the highest idle speed in which the wheel doesnt move, and the throttle needle is on the 4th notch down... The vacuum line i put on is a really small one that probable came off of a motorized r/c car, could this have anything to do with it? AND i have the air box box tube sealed off good. im gonna go check my jet to see what size it is just incase. it also seems like its burning to much oil because there is a white exhaust coming out.

Should be a #65 or 68 main jet.

Your idle jet's probably plugged. The Spree is running on the choke/bystarter circuit for 30-60 seconds, until it closes.
