SYM dd50 stock carb size and max jet?

Post by HI808SYM »

hello to all,

newbie here on forum. been reading a lot and learned a lot of good information.

The question I have is what is the stock carbeurator size of the SYM dd50? I have heard/read 12mm. can anyone confirm.

also if it is 12mm what would be the largest main and pilot jet that i could run with the carb before having to just upgrade to a larger carb?

I have a 2010 SYM with a 43mm bore kit (60cc i think) with the stock carb and airbox. I am currently running a 40 pilot and 100 main. the bike runs OK but it revs out at the top end. i was wondering if i should upjet to 105 on the main or would that be too much for the baby stock carb.

any insight would be great.

thanks guys. yes its a new bore (about 600 miles on it) and yes i want to keep my stock airbox.

I took out the plastic tab form the inside of the airbox but i havent drilled any holes or anything.

I was running the stock pilot (38 I think) and i was running too lean.

am i correct on assuming 12mm for the stock carb?

should i get a 17 or 19 mm that can bolt to my stock intake?

If it really is a 12mm then id go small on the aftermarket carb and go with the 17.
I believe arreche makes a 17.5mm

Don't get confused on the 12mm (which is the carb measured at the narrowest point) with the size of the mouth, which is more like 15mm. Methinks you guys are talking about different things.

I don't think you need to re-carb, I think you need to take a look at your plug and see if you need a re-jet.
