I am in favor of powder coating or nickel plating rather than painting.

i may but i didn't want to hassle with taking the tires, and bearings off to have it baked plus im not sure how much it would cost, would they be able to do the stripe?

So you are painting the wheels but leaving the old tired tires, what's the point? The old tires will make the shiny wheels look like crap. Either do it right or don't.

I used rust-oleum preformance rim paint. Goes on nice, dries fast, and has a good finish.
Don't know how it holds up yet because I still need to buy tires

so far matte plus stripe is winning and tied with alternative, now obviously powdercoat will last longer than probly any other paint but just Google-ing it seems most people in the car crowd say spray paint is enough and like towards duplicolor hi-performance wheel paint, while motorcyclists are all for powder coating
anyone think my rims will take more abuse than a cars rims

Greetings:

Car wheels grind curbs all the time. Especially with today's low-profile rubber-band rim-protector tires.

Other than mounting and dismounting tires, scooter wheels only get washed once in a while. Powder-coating is nice, but the cosmetic difference isn't all that great, especially when dusty. Two cents for your Piggy Bank.
