Reeds good vs bad

Im in the process of installing the 44mm BBK and noticed during disassembly that one of the reeds was not fully closed. There is a slight gap, enough that you can see light shine through. Is there any tolerance on this? ie max gap. Any recommendations on source for replacing if necessary?

Thanks in advance.

If there is a little opening it will hurt nothing. If there is a big opening, like a millimeter then it could be an issue.

Its probably less than a mm, but not by much. I'll inspect it closer this evening. is there a prefered replacement?

If they are metal reeds, replacement with one of the fiberglass, carbon fiber, etc materials is always an improvement, especially when the reed stops are done away with. The after market reeds will work without the stops and the factory plastic ones will not there by give better air flow than the factory reeds.

I took the cage apart and tweaked the open reed to lay flat. Put it back together and it fired right up. As you mentioned I dont think it was enough to be a problem anyways it was running fine when i took it apart. The 44mm BBK sounds good! Cant wait to take it for a ride.
