Engine Hangers - Which one fits on an Elite E?

Post by Pygmaelion »

I thought I caught a post from Noiseguy, mentioning that to swap out the standard engine on an SB50p, you'd need a replacement engine (preferably from a 94 - 01 dio) and an engine hanger from the 87 elite.

How does the 87 elite engine hanger differ from the 94 dio engine hanger?

I've only seen (in person) one engine swapped SB, and being that I was even more of a noob at the time, I didn't think to get measurements or take notes.

I clearly recall that an engine hanger (of unknown year) was used, but it was cut down (widthwise), and a front fork arm was used to move the top (underseat) suspension mount back about an inch. I also recall the tech saying "Yeah, this thing vibrates like *".

Do a seach for posts by Vette76, he did one of these swaps and took pics.

I should probably clean it up and put it in tech docs.

The tongue on the elite is sits higher than the 87 motor mount. The 87 motor mounts tongue fits directly into the frame tube unlike the S motor mount tongue which will have to be lowered.
