replacing clutch

Post by Shootin_Spree »

I have started replacing the clutch and breaks on my 85 spree. I have the clutch off the drive plate (page 8-10). my question is should I give the clutch pivot pins a light coat of machine oil before I replace the clutch shoes?

Also when I removed the crankcase cover it had no gasket. Should I get some gasket material and replace it?

Yes, oil and clean the pins.

No, do not use make-a-gasket (ever.) Either buy a new one or run without. I bought a new one since mine was missing and found that

1) it gets in the way
2) doesn't seem to help anything.

How about the roller bearings? I used Lithium grease.

I replaced the clutch, belt and starter pinion. All seems to work well.
Thank you all for your advice.
