well he's got an elite and i got the thing running for him the other day. its got over 7500 on it and the spedo it smashed so i dont know how fast it went but it had bad take off and seemed to stutter going down hill and when on flat toped out. it felt like it did a decent 25 30 mph not sure ( no speedo) whats wrong with it?

start by rebilding the carb

with 7500 miles on it, id check the compression...

yeah chances are it probably will need decarbonizing of the cylinder major, same with exhaust, some carb work, and some new piston rings maybe even a new piston.

try and get a new speedo on ebay, they're not too expensive

if its just the piston and rings it would be pretty cheap... the rest is DIY

oh it was also backfiring a little every so often. it takes off stays goin slow boggin for a few seconds then starts to get faster. hardly goes up hills

sounds alot like your exhaust is plugged. try some of the cleaning methods mentioned in the tech section

buy it, clean the exsost, clean the carb, clean the carbon from inside the head, cech compretion
