pod filter
I have read many threads on adding a pod filter and how i would need to upjet the main and pilot. I have a 93 sa50p that has been derestricted. I have installed a pod filter and have ordered a Leo vince sp3 for it. I didn't get it with a stock exhuast so I figured instead of paying for a stock one why not spend a little more and get some extra power. What I'm worried about is that since I can't increase the pilot jet will I burn up my stock cylinder from idle being to lean? I upjetted to 88 on the main in anticipation for my new exhaust. I have heard I can tape up part of the pod filter and make it flow closer to the box but I'm wonddering if anyone has any experience with this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Re: pod filter
It wont seize at idle. it will seize on off throttle when riding.especially when coming off throttle from wide open throttle.get the stock airbox back on. the design of the airbox was made to work with the carb and its jetting.the amout of volume of the airbox to the tune length and diameter of the inlet tube on the outer cover of the airbox. taping off the pod filter your only cutting off all total air so your 88 jet will now be to rich. either get a stock airbox or do a aftermarket carb and manifold setup so you can change the pilot and main jet.

Re: pod filter
Any pictures of this hooked up. Is it a direct swap with the oko manifold? Is it just easier to run the stock airbox?
Re: pod filter
your better off just getting a stock airbox. doing the aftermarket carb and manifold your looking at spending over $120 and you still have to buy jets. plus its a pain to jet and get right if your new to the whole scooter modding thing which sounds like you are.

Re: pod filter
Greetings:
I just noticed your SA50 is a 93. The OKO manifold can be made to fit, but it's too narrow to cover the case port completely. An adaptor plate can be made to cover the slit left uncovered by the OKO. I and several others have done this and even craftier things. However it isn't bolt-on.
If you plan no other modifications, the easy answer is certainly to keep the stock airbox. All things being equal, the Pod filter alone doesn't add much performance, if any.

Re: pod filter
I wasn't looking for performance but I don't have the element for my stock filter and a pod filter was sitting in my garage unused so I threw it on. If I tape the pod and jet down to 85 or so would I be ok with the new exhaust.
Re: pod filter
Listen to the Man! Or men. These two know what they are talking about, of you try and cheap out you will be spending a lot more than the $10 for the stock filter in the near future.

Re: pod filter
Did some searching and was wondering if a 19mm or 21mm arreche carb will work with the stock manifold. I have put the stock box back on and someone is selling me a filter for it. So for now I should be good
Re: pod filter
The filter from Honda is only $7.75 list price. My dealer sells it to me for $5.58. Why would you buy one from elsewhere?

Re: pod filter
If his dealers are like mine, they don't even carry things for scooters. Mine sucks.
Re: pod filter
So order it, it is cheaper than the internet and no shipping charges. Christ, you guys would cry about something free if it wasn't delivered to your front door.ragtop89 wrote:If his dealers are like mine, they don't even carry things for scooters. Mine sucks.
