1987 Sprees

Post by otto-man »

Hello
Somehow, in the past couple years 7 Sprees have found there way to my garage (it's a sickness)!! The posts on this site have been fantastic in helping me figure things out!! I've been on 4 stroke bikes for over 45 years and these 2 stroke things sometimes drive me nuts. Anyway.... Why is it that the 1987 Sprees are so much faster than the earlier ones. Is it carb jetting and tranny gear ratios?? Thanks

Some factors are - Gear ratio, cyl port timing, piston changed to domed, head change. Are you seeing much difference between 86 to 87 Spree? I think much was the same between the two.

Thanks mousewheels,
There is a difference between 86 and 87, but not as much as the 84/85s. Maybe I'm just asking too much for a 49cc motor to haul my petite 240 lb butt around.
