Aero 125 Rebuild Or Skelly?
SO my aero 125 kinda ran when i first got the scoot. It no longer will run. I thought it had a vacuum leak but im pretty sure i fixed that problem. Now it just wont start at all. I have an elite 80 to ride around so this has become a project scooter. Heres some pictures and questions.

So i removed the break lock assembley. What else should i do?

Is there anything i should do to this? Should i install a switch?

You can just see the carbs gasket sticking out from the bottom. Would this effect running conditions? Any insight or help is apreciated. And if not anyone want some parts?

Not the stock carb, so without knowing the jetting, who knows.
Do a compression test first.

Mikuni and 20 are the only things on the carburetor. Other then what looks a serial number. Why do a compresssion test?

Re: Aero 125 Rebuild Or Skelly?
These scooter came with a Keihin PA carb, hence the none stoke carb which as often as not are the problem.DeathByFox wrote:Mikuni and 20 are the only things on the carburetor. Other then what looks a serial number. Why do a compresssion test?
Aah, it no longer runs and without compression all the fuel and spark in the world will not make it run.
If you know what you are doing, why are you here asking for help? Why the * are you questioning the advice?

I was merely curious why thats something to check? And would putting an original carb on help at all?

Re: Aero 125 Rebuild Or Skelly?
A compression check tells you about the physical condition of the cylinder, which is the heart of the motor.DeathByFox wrote:I was merely curious why thats something to check? And would putting an original carb on help at all?
With the original carb you would at least know it was jetted right. Going from an 18mm to a 20mm carb is a waste of money and looking for problems with minor if any increase in performance.

Well the only problem with that is this is how the scooter was purchased. Any insight about removing that locking mechanism?

Re: Aero 125 Rebuild Or Skelly?
That's easy, remove the whole foot brake assembly and throw in the trash. Install a left hand brake off an Aero 80 and get a longer cable. Unplug that stupid switch and let it join the rest of that foot brake insanity. My 125's starts every time.

Re: Aero 125 Rebuild Or Skelly?
Thanks. Now if my engine has no compression, im screwed arent i? I cant seem to find a cylinder rebuild kit online anywhere? Would it now require an engine swap if its toast?

Wiseco makes a piston that will work.

Re: Aero 125 Rebuild Or Skelly?
So i removed that and now it wont crank at all. At first i thought it was that stupid foot lock. i reinstalled it up to were i could make it think it was activated/ deactivated. and it still wouldnt crank. I know the battery is charged and the key is in the on position. Also now when i step on the rear foot break it wont activate the break lights. Im thinkin i may have gotten in over my head with this scoot. Any advice is appreciated. Also looking to purchase a stock carb if anyone has an extra.

Peruse the wiring diagram in the service manual. It will help.

To make it so that you see the skelleton(Frame) of the bike. I would basically ditch all the plastics and route the wires through the frame. install some foot pegs and go.
