Trailtech TTO CHT (Cylinder head temp) Gauge acting goofy

Post by Chicago Ben »

Anybody else with Trailtech TTO CHT gauge have theirs act up?

mine will go blank aka no sensor is hooked up, then read temps way off, then read correct temps, then go blank, then go to way off temps again...

All my lines are connected fine , sensor ring is clean and secure...

Thinking about picking up a backlit KOSO gauge off amazon to replace this unit... edit here --- looks like koso's slim line only reads upto 248 F, dang...

You have a connection thats grounding out or losing signal it sounds like. If it hits as high as it can read its being grounded out. Could be a faulty sender wiring or the unit itself. You could shake the wiring harness while sitting still and see if it causes it to go blank or read crazy.

Also check the wiring routing. Harnessing the temp sensor close to coil output wire or stator excitor wire could cause a noisy signal.

the sending units are garbage.

the tiny cht gauge from trailtech seems to work better.

I think hes talking about the tiny cht gauge, the tto cht is pretty small and not bad on price. I have noticed their send units dont last long(bend or go out of round) if youre doing a lot of plug chops.

yeah that seems to be the issue here - when you say tiny... which one are you talking about? My TTO is the smallest gauge they make I believe

Hey Ben, I think it is the normal operating mode for that particular unit. I have one on my daily rider and it flashes the max. temp every 6 seconds, then goes back to current temps. I think it says this also on the package. Have not had any other issues so far since May of this year. Of course I heard all the cons about them but it is not my experience so far. Hope that helped you and glad your scoot is back on the road!!!

No, I know tto displays current then displays max every 5-6 or so. I'm saying it will display null, then temps wayyy off

your choice but a 2$ batter is cheaper then a 40$ unit
