carburetor stripped. 1986 spree
So I took my carb off to clean it and unfortunately stripped it. Now it's loose and will not seal properly. And my spree will not start. This could be a cause for it not starting right?? I want to go the route of attaching two nuts to the backside. I just need to know what size bolts to buy. And what size nuts. Thanks again.

Re: carburetor stripped. 1986 spree
Ok thank you. But the stock bolts will not reach. I have to go to the hardware store and buy some. I just don't know the specs. How thick are they?
Re: carburetor stripped. 1986 spree
just take the stock bolts with you and get ones that a a little bit longer to compensate and matching nuts. If that doesnt work you can use a tap and die and go one size bigger on the holes

I tried going to a 7mm bolt on one of my Sprees. One problem is that the hex head on the bolt is too big to get a socket on. That's on the inside bolt.

Re: carburetor stripped. 1986 spree
Greetings:
The easiest and cheapest fix is to buy a 1/4" tap and a 9/32" drill. Retap the Al carb flange - no drilling needed. Then enlarge the holes in the manifold and brown plastic insulator to fit a 1.5 and 2" x 1/4" trimmed to prevent punching a hole in the carb bowl. The bigger threads will make stripping them harder, but go easy on the Wheaties when snugging them up Hoss.

Re: carburetor stripped. 1986 spree
So that problem is fixed. Good compression it has a good spark and I just cleaned the carburetor. Still will not start. The carb is getting gas I'm all out of ideas. What can it be?
Re: carburetor stripped. 1986 spree
