Spree stealth lights switch

Howdy Friends,

A friend and I love to ride the extensive trail network up here in the NW corner of the USA, and the spree is the perfect vehicle for it. Fairly quiet, quick, but not too quick for these trails. I was just wondering if anyone would help me with a little info on installing a switch that would kill all of the lights, incase my buddy and I had a run in with the law on one of these midnight trail runs.

I figured you could install a switch that would break the connection between the headlights/dash lights, and the stator. Does anyone know where along this connection I would make the break, (before/after regulator) or is this wire going directly to the lights?

Also, would doing this turn off the tail lights? If anyone has any ideas about where I would wire in a switch that would kill all of the running lights so I could slip into the night unseen that would be wonderful.

Thanks
AS

Well I wired the whole new lights switch in. I got a single pole switch, and broke the brown wire from the tail lights and wire it into the switch, as well as the yellow wire going to the hi/lo headlight switch. Both were wired into the switch, with the positive of each going into one side and the negative coming out the other of the switch. I started her up and she ran great and the switch worked flawlessly. Then i put all the covers on the dash and such and started her up again, and it blew the fuse. Would anyone know why this configuration blew the fuse?

any help would be very appreciated.

Greetings:

Headlamp powered by alternator direct. Connected to battery circuit + RPM = too much current for the fuse. Separate switches?

Don't use the hot side wires!!!! Always put a switch for that type of use on the ground wire side. That way you don't fry wires or your whole electrical system. For the taillight use a switch. For the front disconnect either the high beam or low beam. That way you don't have to add another switch

Please dont connect the A/C current for the head lamp into the D/C current of the tail light. Graphite9 gave great advice on using a two pole switch. A two pole switch will have four terminals, that is like having two individual switches inside of one switch. One side of the switch will be wired into the A/C current of the headlamp and the other side of the switch will be wired into the D/C current of the tail light.
Here in Michigan, it would be much easier to just buy an ORV sticker and enjoy the trails while waving at the DNR guys. The DNR guys even know where the great trails are, just ask them.
