might not hurt to put some lubrication in the cyl. first.
good luck and have fun.

Squirt 2 stroke oil in the cylinder, dont use wd40. Always glad to hear about scooter resurrection :-) you'll have it rocking and rolling in no time

i will put 2 stroke oil in. thanks guys. my next problem is trying to open a clogged orifice in the float bowl for the bystarter. man that thing is stubborn.carb spray and compressed air aint gettin it. i'm soaking it in carb vat . hope that does it.

That little orifice is the key to getting the spree to idle and start properly its worth the work to clear it :-) a bristle from a wire brush works. A welding tip cleaner tool is very handy too. The soak you have it it will definitely help. And when you start to clear it poke at the crud then spray the hole with carb cleaner poke more then blow out the junk and repeat until clear and you can spray carb cleaner through freely. You'll get it. My express carb took almost two hours to clear ;-)

soaked it over night and it seems to be clear but now i have a new problem. the guide pin for the throttle is missing (go figure)and when i put on the kick stand in gear it continues to build rpm. i guess i'm gonna have to drill out and install a home made one with jb weld. the hole is there but stud is missing. I do have a spare 86 carb body does any one know if it will swap for 87 model? thanks in advance for the replys

That swap to the 87 should be just fine. Just swap the bowl and all the other parts over and let it rip. Its a pain when those guide pins get sheared off.
