oil light operation 87 spree
i have a question when is the oil light supposed to show itself and is it just a level meter for the oil tank? or does it detect if oil has failed entering the fuel system? I show 12 volts at the wires on the tank with power on but no light. Thanks in advance you guys have been great help .

Hi and Welcome!
The device in the tank is an oil level switch, normally open. See details at this post here at hondaspree.net -- Link

Run a jumper wire between the two wires at the sending unit at the oil tank. If the light comes on, replace the sending unit. If it doesn't come on, check the light bulb in the dash. It has to be one of the two if you have 12VDC at the sending unit.
Good luck!
