1987 honda elite - (ed: noise when brakes applied)

Post by jojo5990 »

Hello
im new to the forum. .just had a quick question
I have a 1987 Honda Elite 50 and just acquired the bike. I noticed that when I'm driving it and I go to hit the brake. There a sound like a grinding noise from under the seat. I checked the brkae shoes and they seem to have alot of meat left to them.
Any help would be great
thanks

Yes brakes work. I feel a vibration under the seat. It doesn't do it when the front brake is applied. Only the rear.

I have already done that. Could it possibly be a bad motor mount?

I have a vibration from the front brake on the BK bike. I am suspicious that the drum is warped. Has anyone had that problem before?

I think I found the problem. The kick stand it making the noise. Is there anything that I could put on it so it doesn't make noise when braking.

it depends on what exactly is making the noise itself...
most times a piece of rubber or foam strategically placed will be of help :)

When I had my 89E, I had a similar problem, my kickstand made noise whenever I hit a bump... I traced the sound to the kickstand bouncing off the spring... after I found the source; I just left it. Since it wasn't really anything serious, I just learned to live with it. ;)
