home made tool to take the nuts off the crank

Post by swimmingfree »

heres a tool i made to get the nuts off the crank ... the hole in the center show the nut on the crank is big anuff to get a socket in our the fly puller in... and it works well to pull the Variator off yes you need to tack off the cover and fan but its only 4 more boults ... how i made it i use the fan and drill the holes to get them in the wright place ... then put in on the fly wheel and marked it and cut the middle hole...
good luck...

Looks good swim. Mine is made from the tire iron/lug remover from a cars stock jack kit. Works great and had a nice handle.

homemade tools, nice :thumbwink:
I built a holder using large pliers (it pictured with a 3/8 ratchet) and an 8mm bolt.

In use, a piece of rectangular steel tube OR a length of inner tube is placed over the jaws to be sure it cannot bite a hand.

Hey ped

Does that crank puller work to pull both bearings into the case?

yes, it has two different sized nuts welded onto the clamp threads rod.
I had to use two clamps from Harbor Freight. They were on sale 299.
take a look at photos on the homemade crank puller thread. :thumbwink:
