Restarting after upjet

Post by Rip_City_Spree »

Sorry guys I know this has probably been asked and I spent a few hours today reading. But still no luck. So here's the deal. I got used r1 pipe and put it on and was told I should upjet. Up jetted my main to .77mm using a drill bit. Slapped it back together and no joy. Turning over got gas to the carb. I haven't checked plug yet will check after dinner. Ran ok before upjet with pipe on it just could run better. That being said one of the boys pulled the carb off my bench when it was apart. Don't think it hurt anything but not an expert. Any help would be great gonna spend some time with it tonight. Thanks guys

Greetings:

The main jet contributes little or nothing to the start-up. Consider assembly error somewhere along the way if it ran before the jet change.

Try hand choking the carb. Sometimes it takes a little bit more to start up after reinstallation.

Hello Rip city spree

As wheelman said the main jet plays little to no effect on the pilot circuit.

The bike will start and idle fine even with the Main jet removed.

Double check everything.

Thanks G9.. Took her for spin. Not wanting to go over 35, temps are running around 325 for the highs. Still need to change out my old belt. Then will continue tuning. Main jet right now at .77mm. I suggestions for size would be appreciated. wife told me tonight I'm a lil obsessed with my scooter! She might be right.

Well crap time to get a new jet I guess.. Would a pod filter help this? Not sure if my thinking in correct but fuel/air mix is to rich right? Can I lean it out with a pod filter? Will place order for new jet but will probably be a few weeks through honda if they have one.

You can but then you will suffer the pilot jet. Open up the air box tabs a little more.

It was still struggling after 35 but would get going if I was going downhill. I didn't hit any hills last night was mainly just a shakedown run on a flattish stretch. Actually runs better than before I drilled it out just doesn't want to run passed 35 on flats. BBK and carb is next on my list. Waiting on funds

Yeah pulls great to 35 then just kinda holds there. I'll go up another size as this one might be shot anyway and see what happens. Still need to change my belt also. Doubt that has to much to do with it but it is passed it's life span

Was thinking that was my plan. Still haven't put that belt on. Definitely feeling something off on my left side. Vibration at take off half throttle. Feels like slippage or the clutch needs adjusted. Gonna pull the left side ASAP. Must get BBK!

Ride home was mostly not WOT. Temps up to 373 at the high that was a long uphill pull. Running hot on long pulls, flats and hills. Ok down hill 320-330f. Still not achieving speeds like I had with stock pipe.
