mini stroker- extra base gaskets?

Post by DirtyE »

Im just thinking about this, and whats the point of the mini stroker crank if you're just gonna throw extra base gaskets under the cylinder? Wouldn't you want to modify the cylinder ports to accommodate the longer stroke instead?

Clearance on some pistons to the head is the issue not port timing, also more base gaskets used the higher the port timings are as long as the top is decked to also accommodate the rise.

+3 crank = 1.5mm higher on the deck and on the bottom.

Some times you have to port lower when using too many base gaskets or plates.

Are there 50mm kits designed for the 44.x stroke?

Extra base gaskets and lowering the ports makes sense.

There are kits designed for it, you need the measurements of the cylinder height to determine if they're stroker or stock stroke. It seems no one knows which they have when they are selling them. I ordered a few 50s through out the years and have received stroker cylinders from autotech435, or something, near every time I get one from him. He's an ebay seller.

It sounds like the stock crank may be one of the best dub. I like the sound of extra cc's though. I dont want to get into having the cases machined... I dont have anyone local that I know. The mini stroker sounds like fun. If a crank wants to break it will. I had it happen twice. One bgm crank on mina horizontal at 13-14k rpm(running MHR 47.6 bore, yasuni c21), and I cant think of the other off hand. I just remember the bgm crank being the end of my zuma. I parted it out afterward.
