87 elite 50 with aero airbox

Post by Bossshelby »

hi I was wondering if an 86 aero 50 air box fit an 87 Honda elite 50. I am putting an elite engine in a spree and need more space and the original elite air box is big. the carb is stock so I need to stick with stock boxes.

Greetings:

I've owned both a Japanese-spec '86 SE50 and a U.S. '86 and an '87 Aero. I am not sure it applies to U.S. SE50s, but the JDM engine's manifold was substantially different from both Aeros. This would put the connector pipe angle in a different place, and I suspect some adaptin' would be needed to fit the Aero box to the Elite. Also, the Aero box points the carb bellmouth squarely at the shock centerline, which I suspect was the reason for the change to a more outboard angle of the Elite mani. The Aero box has a deep curve to wrap around the shock.

Ok thanks is there anything else I can replace the 87 elite box with? It's too large for the stock panels to go back on.
