Throttle loose - how to tighten ?

Post by DeanP »

My throttle is loose and I would like to tighten it up somehow. Everytime I go over a bump, my hand j e r k s and the throttle twists back and forth too easy causing it to rev higher/lower. How could I prevent this? Anything to adjust to tighten it?
Thanks in advance.

No DeanP, do not in any way tighten the throttle cable or any part of the throttle mechanism.
I suggest you need to maintain better control of your hand.
The last thing you want is your throttle not turning freely.
Tightening the throttle goes against all logic and safety guidelines.
Besides that, I wouldn't know what to tell you in order to accomplish such an adjustment.
I really can't believe you even asked the question... :urban:

I guess that my throttle must be wearing too loose. It's sloppy and not like my burgman. Just thought that I might need to buy a new throttle/handgrip assembly or tighten it's looseness somehow.

Take off the top of the carb, stretch out the spring and see how it feels.

Thank you maddog for giving me a different perspective on the situation.
My interpretation of his suggested tightening of the throttle was probably wrong.
Stretching the spring a little would be very effective in increasing the "snap-back" of the throttle,
and may very well be the fix that satisfies the OP's desire.
Well done sir... :thumbwink:
