Fresh build noob questions.

Post by Hksdio »

Hey guys i have recently rebuilt my first scooter.

Its a honda dio sr 92.

Few misc questions:

1. On the stand i need to open almost to half throttle before the clutch grabs, does this mean my clutch is too worn.

2. For run in is 500 miles of 10min trips ok?

3. Can i use the tto cht to tune making sure its running nicely while staying within temp?

4. The rear brake lever is sticky and leaves the brake light on after release. Is wd40 ok for the lever?

Thanks in advance once again i need to say i have been on many car forums over the years but this forum has been the most helpful and mature.

1. Could be worn shoes or springs are too strong for the setup, once your rididng is when it matters where it catches at. The belt slips when to tourqe is put on it. Half throttle does sound high, is there any play in the throttle before it starts reving up? You may need to adjust your trottle tighter if so.

4. Make sure you have the break shoes springs, break arm return spring in place.

Number 8 and 10 on that part diagram are responsable for return of lever unless the line is freezing up or the lever houseing is warped or dent and if keeping it from returning. Also you rear brkea may be too loose or your beak light switch is going bad.

The real test is with the scooter OFF the stand, and with passenger aboard.
Does it chatter under load ?
Will it pull you without extreme excessive rpm ?
The clutch consists of changeable springs for different release rates.

2. For run in is 500 miles of 10min trips ok?...yield to a knowledgeable tuner on this one.

3. Can i use the tto cht to tune making sure its running nicely while staying within temp?...um, of course ?

4. The rear brake lever is sticky and leaves the brake light on after release. Is wd40 ok for the lever?...Most likely it is the cable that is dragging, not the lever, but WD40 is fine for the job to get the cable more freely operating. There is a device called "Cable-oiler" that makes easy work of getting the cable shield to fill with whatever lubrication is chosen. The lever may be sticky as well, but is easily removed, cleaned, and lubed. Cleaning is important too. Sometimes sticky cables are best replaced. Cleaning the inside of the brake hub including all brake parts with spray brake cleaner is going to make for smoother operation. Lubrication inside the brake hub should be SPARINGLY done...but I personally use none or nearly none.

Thanks in advance once again i need to say i have been on many car forums over the years but this forum has been the most helpful and mature.

not sure why, but the partzilla ones are too short. That pic is of two partzilla ones

But yeah just order 2 to be safe, and try to order from an local honda for new parts first sometimes its cheaper then importing parts.

Some questions about the pic for g9. Did that shock lifter let the new polini pipe clear the seat bucket? What pipe is that in the pic? Looks a pg or v8. Lastly, looks like a radiator on the front, what bore you have on it?
