Elite 50 Cutting out mid ride

I just ran into an issue I have never had before with my elite. I was riding like I usually, going about 30-35, and out of nowhere the throttle just cut out. Scooter didn't die or anything, it just stopped giving it gas. It coasted for a couple of seconds, while I kept trying to give it gas, and it just started acting normal again. Figured it was just a fluke or something but then it happened on the way home. Any ideas what the issue could be?
