Which battery would you buy for a Spree?

Post by Kustomkarma »

I'm sticking my '84 Spree back together and wondering which battery I should buy for it. There's a thousand different ones that will fit, but which one is a best buy? I don't need anything fancy, just something that works.

Thanks.

Personally, I go the cheap route. As any 4L-BS battery will work, I get $15 throw-aways from Spree-bay. I bought one a yr ago from the local battery supply store for $40+tax and it was their "top-o-the-line" except for the super fancy $85 lithium gel blah blah. I see zero difference in performance or durability between the two after 1 full year. However, if youre the type to have every accessory under the sun on your bike like phone charger, stereo, extra lights, alarm system, etc....get the super deluxe.
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.

I went with the battery tender lithium because I do indeed run all kinds of accessories and will be adding color changing LED lights to the bottom of the bike this summer.

Although.... wouldn't the display cause a drain on the battery?

Yeah... as much as a watch battery. Bike would have more in phantom losses than that.
