New to me '87 spree wont start/run

Post by auxier87 »

Hello,

New here, just picked up a nice 1987 Spree.
Owner said it had set about 2 years and was running when it was parked.

Anyhow, I've checked the compression it was around 108 or so

Has good spark

Carb is unbelievably clean(maybe has been replaced)

Petcock seems to be working ok but...

Initially it seemed to be working correctly, but now Im getting fuel backing up into vacuum line?

I did have it running last night by hand choking it. but it would die once I let off.

I have a new petcock on order. Any other things that could be causing the fuel to run back into the vacuum line?

Thanks. Great site!

Faulty petcock is only reason fuel would be in vacuum line. :thumbwink:

When you get your "replacement" petcock...be sure the threads fit your gas tank bung. Those cheap Ebay jobbers sure are nice at cross-threading the gas tank threads because they arent correct. Most of the time the threads on the cheapy p-* are way too coarse. Ask me how I know this. :hi:
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.
