Cheap Exhaust Options On The SA50?

Post by wesrb785 »

What are some cheap options for an exhaust on the SA50 I still have the original but the person I got it from took it apart and welded it back together weirdly. I was wondering if A: I could either fix the weld by just using a sauder or B: Buy a CHEAP exhaust, but I have no clue where to get one under $20 that will fit my bike. I don't Know how to weld, but if I have no choice I could ask my friend's dad to fix the exhaust, since he's a welder.

Post a pic of what it looks like now, perhaps salvageable. We can probably help.

Greetings:

What year SA50?

IF 1994 or later; I have a freshly-repainted Kymco 4-section pipe that ran briefly on Flash 9. I felt it wasn't well-suited to the 72cc big block but I believe it would do well on a 50cc. You can have it for shipping. Before you get excited, shipping is $46, depending on Zip Code.

That be an AF05 exhaust....no doubt about it!

I dont see the "bad welds" he was talking about though. Luckily for him, its an unrestricted version so if he can get it to work at least it will be decent.

It doesn't mount on the right way it sticks out instead of just being parallel to the bike.

Sounds like the wrong exhaust.

wesrb785.. Please answer Wheelman's question if you want help. If you don't know the year, look at the VIN sticker on the round frame tube underneath the floorboard. The year will be in large font. If the sticker is missing, post a photo of your engine.

Its a 1997 the VIN is 3H1AF160XVD800059. I'm sorry I didn't reply about the year earlier I thought I had already said it. I guess that was on my other post.

Oh lovely. So it's not bolted to the case anywhere, just hanging off the jug. IIRC that's what an SE50 exhaust on an SA50 would look like. Your pipe is not correct for that bike. Let me guess: buyer told you he had the exhaust but "it's not bolted on, here, it's real easy."

Do not ride the bike like that, you'll break the exhaust flange off the jug and then you'll have an expensive repair. You need to find an SA50 exhaust correct for your bike.

I'm going to make this clarification so the original poster of this thread will see clearly the differences we are talking about. The 1988 thru 1993 sa50 elite was equipped with the af05 motor, and although it could actually fit on any year sa50 elite frame, with only minor adjustments, the af05 motor is completely different from the 1994 thru 2001 sa50 elites' af16 motor. These two motors have different cylinders and exhaust pipes. Look on the rear of the motor above the drain bolt on the transmission and it has a stamped on designation either AF05E or AF16E
