Replacing old tires...any tips while wheels are off anyway?

Any maintenance suggestions while the exhaust and wheels are off? Things to check out? Brake pads look good, bike has a little over 3000 miles. This mounting of the new tires is a gigantic PITA, so I am no rush to get it done (in fact I'll likely break down and take them to a shop).

Dave

Its a 1985 Aero (as stated in the sig below)

Run 2.75x10 tires instead of 2.50x10. I use Kenda brand on mine.

If you would have stated what year and model of bike,
answering your question would have been a simple process...as it is, eclark got lucky
and assumed you were asking about an Aero 50.
I say this, not to be snarky, but to stress the importance of giving good information in ANY post when seeking help.

Maybe he got lucky...or maybe he just had the wherewithal to see it in my sig, right at the top. I was under the impression that one of the reasons to list your bike there was so you wouldn't have to indicate it each time (for example, see eclark's recent post on temperature).

Thanks to both of you for the responses.

Fair enough...signatures help in that regard, sometimes.
I strive for a better, less confusing, efficiently flowing stream of clarity for everyone's benefit.
Trying to cross reference signatures with poster's requests for technical data and applications leaves so much room for guessing.
A moderator's job can be a thankless one.

Yes, read signature. And yes, this does help if people put a description of their bikes in their signature. Has noiseguy ever considered installing MOD's from PhPBB.com to enhance things like signatures and descriptions? Perhaps a messaging system like Facebook uses to converse with members online. Shoutbox on main screen to encourage more participation..meh.. don't mind me. I've wrote and have published a few PhPBB mods over the years, ran a few forums myself for many years. Using EasyMOD with PhPBB makes installing features much easier, plus integration into the wiki system is also possible.. But in the mean time, please be considerate and identify your rides in your sig. Lots of people here can help, zero can read minds.
