87 Spree starter

Post by Meycom »

Trying to get an old 87 Spree back going to sell for my wife's sister.
It was stored very poorly, so it's been an up hill battle.
Cleaned out the fuel system, new spark plug, air filter.
Primed the oil pump. Tail light and directional lights work fine,
but no starter, horn or front light. I've checked the fuses I found
but I think I'm missing one.
Anyone point me in the right direction?

Your Spree has only one fuse and it is good since the tailight works.
Your starter will work if you hold one of the brakes on.
Front light is only on when the engine is running.
Horn will work after some more debugging. Save fixing the horn for last.
You need to download the free workshop manual and read it.

He's right...A. squeeze rear brake lever
B. Push starter button
C. If starter still does not spin, further inspection required.
