Im assuming they would function as described since theres really not much to a petcock valve. Basically a spring and a rubber disk inside. The bigger issue is fitment! This Ebay auction claims a long list of bikes it will fit on but (as we know) these bikes have different threads on their respective fuel tanks. A petcock that fits an SA50 will NOT fit a NQ50..etc etc..

I bought one of these "cheap" petcocks from Ebay last Summer for a Spree. Auction claimed it fit NQ50 and many others. It was only $5 and arrived in 2 days. Unfortunately, the threads were too coarse to fit the Spree. I nearly cross-threaded my Spree gas tank before I realized it was wrong....luckily I didnt or the $5 petcock wouldve cost me much more.

It wasnt a total loss...I used the filter!

I bought one similar to that last summer for an SB50 project and it worked flawlessly.

Guys were running aftermarket petcocks back when I was on the board, no problems. The fuel strainer in the aftermarket I bought not have a super fine mesh like the OEM. So I cleaned and kept the OEM strainer.

Biggest issue I recall was a fit problem. Aero 50's and Sprees required 2 different thread sizes, as Honda made a change between 85-86 model year.

Greetings:

I'm pretty sure Honda made the change to Spree and Aero thread sizes between '85 and '86.

One aftermarket (Cheap!) petcock I purchased was bad out of the box. Another worked. YMMV.
