Float bowl gasket

Post by jgriffin187 »

Hi all,

I'm looking for a new float bowl gasket for my '87 Spree. Do you know where I could find one?

Thanks,
Josh

Thanks for the reply (and URL). $26 shipped is a little painful, but beggars can't be choosers. :)

Thanks again

Yeah, I agree, but you can't cut your own.
$26 bucks to stop a leaky bowl and reduce your
chances of burning down your scoot seems pretty smart... :urban:

Theres this one but it only states that it fits 84-86 Spree...I wasnt aware the 87' had a different bowl?...I would imagine it would fit 87' since there were no changes during the 86-87 other than cosmetic. Would anyone like to confirm or bust this observation?

I can only verify that the gasket sets are listed with different parts numbers, indicating a difference,
but no data to support those differences... :urban:

I have both '87 and '84/85 carb tops on hand. The bowl gasket is the same. Thus for the bowl gasket, either kit works for the '87.

-- What's going on?
Near as I can tell from the Honda P/N part number migration:

When gasket kits for the 87 Spree ran out, the P/N was mapped to the 88 SB 50 carb gasket kit P/N. You can see that from the 'GS6' in the part number. The SB50 gaskets work, the bowl is the same as are the other gaskets. An addition for the 88 SB50 was a gasket in the kit for the air mixture screw. But the '87 has no need for that gasket.

Here's a guess - once the Parts Fiche mapped the SB50 gasket kit to the 87 Spree, the '87 Spree was not picked up when earlier Sprees ran out of gasket kits. Based upon the SB50 P/N the earlier Spree kit became 'incompatible'.

The early Spree gasket kit got updated to point to the to the 83-84 Aero carb code, See the "GE8" in the Western Hills link.
