Please help me get my spree running good

Post by mc1984 »

I just purchased a 1985 Honda Spree yesterday that I purchased off of ebay. Other than the starter grinding when I start it sometimes it starts pretty good. The biggest problem is the acceleration. When you give it more than part throttle it wants to die. It will die if you dont back off the throttle. It almost seems like you hit a switch when the throttle gets to a certain point. It does this when it is cold or warm. I dont know if it is from a bad plug, dirty air filter or what? I have heard that you can have similar problems if the factory airbox is messed with but it seems to have the factory airbox. If you could please give me some advice I would really apprceiate it. I want to get this thing up and running. I would consider myself very mechanicaly inclined and I am not afraid to have to work on it.

And check your airfilter to make sure it's in one piece. They dissolve over time. Sounds like a dirty carb.
