I don't know for sure if the S and SR variators are the same except for the restrictor plate (i.e. "seal") or not, but the part numbers for the rollers and the movable drive face are different. See:

Good to know! Though if I have to replace the variator to gain that extra 5 MPH I'm just gonna go for broke and get a Polini. Unless someone has a complete SR variator set they want to sell for cheap :-)

Polini is good and I have nothing bad to say about it but price. Can you get the same performance from a different/cheaper brand?....I say yes.

You can also use a stock Ruckus variator. It has a larger diameter than the Elite and requires the removal of a little material on the inside around the starter area to fit. I run the Polini for Ruckus on both my builds and like it better than the Elite/Dio Polini.

Meatball - how much material are we talking? Like something you could shave off with a die grinder?
