Center stand not fully retracting, maybe bent?

Post by Sevyndaze »

Hi all,

I noticed the other day that the center stand on my 01 Elite does not seem to be fully retracting. It is rubbing against the variator cover by where the kickstart is and has worn away some of the material on the cover.

I’m pretty sure it’s bent, but I can’t seem to find any pictures of the stand in its retracted position for reference on how it is supposed to sit when retracted. Would someone be so kind as to post one so I can try to bend it back to the correct position?

Also, is there an aftermarket option for a side kickstand? I’ve seen the Japanese one from webike, and SSS has one for $100, but that seems awfully pricey. Any cheaper alternatives out there?

Thanks!

Send me a pm. I ship priority mail.

Or at least I think it was; it’s sitting in my outbox. Not sure if that is normal or not

All set with a nifty new side stand thanks to Bones!

Could someone do me a solid and post a pic of their Elite’s factory center stand in the retracted position? I just want a reference so I can be sure nothing is bent or out of whack with the stand and or frame before I pull it off. Thanks!

Even though you have a side stand, KEEP the center stand assembly on the shelf so you can slap it back on when you need to do maintenance. It takes literally seconds to install and is nice when removing the rear wheel for tire swaps, brakes, gears, shock, etc...I even throw my center stand on when I pull the FRONT wheel. Keeps the scoot stable and more vertical when wrenching.
I need to find some new haters...the ones I have are starting to like me.
