Nq50 removal

Hello everyone. I'm a "noob" to this forum. I just purchased a spree (add applause here.). There is something crunching in the gear box. So I did what any noob would do and threw money at it. I purchased an entire nq50 assembly. I want to swap them, then mod the original and swap back at a later time. No manual or anything. Anything I should look for, be wary of. Or is it just a remove bolts until it falls on my toe and repeat in reverse order kind of thing? Thanks for your time and insight.

To be clear on what you are talking about here. Are you saying you want to swap out the gears? Am I understanding correctly?

The first step is admitting you’re a noob

Eventually yes. However, I am going to swap the entire nq50 assembly.

Yeah sorry, still a bit confused by what you mean by assembly.

If you mean motor swap, its simple.

Disconnect battery
Remove body plastic
Remove exhaust
Remove rear wheel
Remove coil wire from spark plug
Disconnect throttle cable from carb by removing the two top carb screws and pulling the whole thing out..slide/spring/needle/etc
Remove airbox assembly and plastic shroud around fan/jug
Disconnect rear brake cable
Disconnect vacuum line
Disconnect fuel line (fuel still in line will dribble out, its ok)
Disconnect oil line from pump and quickly ELEVATE! Tie it off up high somewhere. Dont drain this line. You want oil to remain in the line! If you connect an EMPTY oil line to your new motor, it will run with NO oil until the line fills...or it grenades. Whichever comes first.
Disconnect the electrical wire connections.
Disconnect shock at the motor connection
Finally, disconnect at the motor mount

Assembly is in reverse. If I forgot a step, you’ll see it along the way. Its been awhile since Ive wrenched a Spree.

I can usually whip the whole job out in 30min if I hurry but my first time took a couple hrs. Make sure you keep all fasteners seperated or labeled so theres no guesswork on re-assembly. Also, its a great time to CLEAN everything while you have it apart.

Thank you. I just wanted to consult the professionals. To make sure I didn't miss anything important or get into trouble.
