Looking to get spree into the 40+ MPH range.

My spree doesn't quite reach the main street speed limit and as such, if I entered such streets I would hinder traffic greatly, what kind of kits would I need in order to upgrade my 1985 Honda Spree?

It will cost about $300-$400 ballpark to get your 85’ Spree from 25-27mph up to 40mph. Logistically, to achieve your goal your money would be better spent with these two options:

1. Buy a variated Af05 motor from an Aero 50 or 87-92 Elite OR an Af16 motor from a 93-01 Elite SA50 and swap it into your Spree. Both of these motors will do 40mph in stock, unmodified condition and the swap process is quite simple. They also propel the Spree from a dead stop so quick that you will pop wheelies if you twist the wrist too fast.

2. Sell your Spree and take the proceeds (plus an additional $300-$400) and purchase an Aero or 87-01 Elite (not an SB50 tho!). These scoots do 40mph (stock) all day, are a bit larger and have more storage. This option is my personal choice.

Kinda like the 2nd option myself. And $300-400 to get from 25 to 40 is an underestimate. It's more like $500-600. Completely not worth it considering what you'll get for that money. Not to mention you are gonna have to hunt high and low, and probably wait quite a while before all the needed parts can be tracked down. Fix the old Spree up, make it run nice, then leave it alone and buy a different scooter if you want 40+. All the guys you see with fast Sprees, are probably running AF16 engine swaps.
