1988 Elite Carburetor Gaskets and Fuel Petcock

Good afternoon!! I’m a new guy with a recently acquired 1988 elite es. I have what appears to be the common fuel
leak from the carburetor. I’ve read on here about the float needle leaking, as well as the petcock. Can anyone tell me if I can find a float bowl o ring or gasket set for this carb? I think the nq50 float bowl o ring will work, but I’m not sure. I was checking some things today and noticed that the vacuum port on the petcock was blocked off, and not attached to the intake. The scooter runs well, so I don’t know if I have to run a new hose. I’m going to do the vacuum check on the petcock to check for possible leaks as well. Does the vacuum line need to be connected?

If vacuum is disconnected and plugged off the petcock is likely faulty. I'd replace it; new ones are <$10 on Ebay last I checked. If carb is leaking around bowl you may need a bowl gasket; if it's leaking out of the overflow you may need a new needle valve. Outside these two parts + bystarter there's nothing that likely needs changed on carb aside from cleaning in any scenario.

Thanks for the information. Should I assume the float bowl gasket for my sb50 is the same as the nq50? I forgot to ask about the carburetor to manifold o ring. If I pull the carb off, I may as well change that. Is that also compatible to the nq50? Just don’t want to make a costly and time consuming mistake. I even thought about a replacement carb, but I’m concerned about the quality of the new ones available.I’m restoring this scooter as a Christmas gift for my wife, so I don’t have a lot of time if I order something wrong.

Bowl gasket is same as nq50. O-ring is reusable if it’s not hard as a rock. Read up on the suggested material and use a good, oiled air filter. No air leaks is desired.

Don’t waste time and money on ebay carbs. Not reliable as far as I’ve heard.
