86 Honda Spree won't start I've tried everything

Update: I bought a used engine with compression and everything is installed now. It has a functioning oil pump which im planning to install later in the week. I tried running it with some premix w/ the grinded pump i had. It is having the same issue as it was with the old engine before I had messed up the compression with either gaskets or seals. So it cranks like a dream and when I put a little starter fluid inside of the carb from the air port and it started for a few seconds then shut down. (It was doing this last time). I have a new oiled filter, new fuel lines and filter, new spark plug, 120 compression. What should I try next?
