Conflicting compression info

Post by mikehailwood »

The online service manual says "113psi minimum". My 1984 Spree manual says "170psi". My compression is about 160psi (cold). People with good reliable experience and info on this forum indicate that compression of 160 is way too high. My Spree is difficult to start and, when it runs, it runs nicely from idle to about 17 mph at which point it bogs and seems to miss. 1- What's the story on compression spec discrepancy? 2- What sorts of symtoms might I expect with my high compression reading? p.s. My main jet size (cannot read the bad stamp) is visibly smaller than my spare size 65.
