Starter Motors

I recently acquired a 1987 Elite SE50 and have been tinkering with the starter motor. It was seized up and in the process of cleaning it out I practically pulverized a brush on accident.

My question is are scooter starter motors interchangeable? This is more of a fun project so I don’t really care if parts are oem I just want to make everything work and there are definitely cheaper motors out there.

any variated af05e starter should work 86 aero. not 85, theyre different. and i think any vertical dio starters. i think i swapped an af18 onto an af05e. not sure about the af16 though. someone else might chime in
