Hone new cylinder?

So I was reinstalling my muffler and somehow broke off half of the exhaust ‘manifold’. Basically I need a new cylinder. It looks like there’s only one supplier from China and so I bought a kit and am looking to install it this weekend. On these kits do I need to home the bore and chamfer the ports, or is it a simple bolt on?

 You are considering putting a made-in-China cylinder on your Honda what? Elite? Which model? Where did you buy it? I would try to find one from Taiwan as a complete kit that has some reputation rather than an unproven $5 pos and use a mic to see the actual clearance you have before honing it. Yes chamfer ports is huge help.

84 spree. I can’t find a spare engine anywhere in Southern California. Everywhere I look people say to do a Dio swap instead of adding a Chinese cylinder to your bike, but I’m having trouble sourcing that engine too. If anyone knows of a junkyard in Southern California that could have one of these I’ll gladly pick it up.

Yes a swap would yield a much better result but it’s gonna cost vastly more money/time, comparatively. I would read up in all that is involved first before committing tho. There are lots of spree/af16 swap threads here for you to peruse.

On a second note my dad bought this bike for me when I was a kid and recently passed away so I’d like to restore it right, and have no problem spending money on it. I just can’t find the right parts.

I found a used cylinder on eBay. Should I use that, hone it, and use the new piston rings from the Chinese cylinder kit?
