Spree idle sticks

Post by Volvo850R »

Hey guys. I have an 86 spree with full tuneup. Plug air filter carb clean fuel line fuel filter new gas . Carb slide screw it’s adjusted and idle air screw is one and three-quarter turns out ... she idle well untill you hit the throttle. If your on the stand the throttle just pins like its stuck . When you use the brake It will come back down release the brake it will idle fine.. and no the throttle is not sticking. It relaxes and slides fine. And its not the clutch the engine rpms will
Not comeback down unless the brake is held.. any ideas??

My guess is that your idle circuit is plugged up and you are idling on the main jet. When you screw in and out on the idle air bleed screw, does it have any effect on the idle speed? Does the engine stop when it's idling and you screw the air bleed screw lightly all the way in? If it doesn't, then your idle circuit is not being used.

It does affect the speed when i adjust the screw. The engine will die out or rev up

Greetings:

Just a guess but it sounds like a vibration-dependent air leak. Check for it with a can of brake cleaner, sprayed on all the suspect spots. See if you have any seepage around the crank ends if the intake circuit checks out OK.
