Hi there,
Got a 1999 CH80 with a brand new motor. Runs great with a drill start, but will not turn over reliably with the starter. Starter has been replaced, as has been the battery. With the new battery completely charged up, it turns over 1 or maybe 2 times max. If I put the drill on it, it starts up in like .5 seconds.
Kinda stumped here. Why don't these bikes just have kickstarts ...

Have you checked your starter relay ?
Re: CH80 won't turn over - new battery, new starter
here's a quick video. as said, i've tried 2 different starters, and 2 different batteries. current battery is reading 12.5v. I have a test light i attempted to use on the starter relay, but couldn't really ascertain if that was the problem.

as you can see, it turns over 2 or 3 times and then stops.

Replaced the starter relay, with no change. Cleaned and reconnected all the grounds I could find.
Based on some threads here and elsewhere, my next stop is the bendix. I have 2 extra motors, and at least one has a verified good starter / bendix. Going to get to it this week.

Did you check your brake light switches?
