My Honda elite has no spark!

Post by 2tkwik »

I have a 2000 Honda sa50 which I bought for $100 which was completely broken, so I split and cleaned the cases, and went all out. Corsa, rhq crank, arrow pipe, ncy stator and flywheel, and a ton of other goodies. So basically the only thing stock are the cases and some of the bolts. (The intake on the case is lightly ported and polished). So basically after putting everything together and plugging in the stator to my new wiring harness (I used an aftermarket af18 dio one; all the plugs fit and match except the rear lights and fuel tank) but I still have no spark. I have a practically brand new electrical system, new battery, new stator, flywheel, and pickup coil, new cdi, new wiring harness, and new ignition coil, and it still has no spark. I tried everything, messing with the headset to see if the on/off switches did anything, messing with they key, and generally attempting to test where the problem is. I’m sure it’s really simple and you guys will probably come with an up answer quick because y’all know these machines better then the dude who wrote the maintenance handbook  thanks for the help in advance; I’ve been screaming at this thing for hours now lol oh and yeah how do I insert images lol I think y’all need pictures haha

Here are the image links, I hope they work
I also know that I used the Ignition coil wrong lol, its supposed to be coil on plug, but I couldn't find any clearance to mount it that way. I will order a Naraku coil, but this will do for now  I know it's not my jerryrigged coil which is preventing spark because I popped in the stock coil from my friends running 2000 elite, and it still didn't work :( Please help me lol i'm getting really frustrated and I've been contemplating getting a local scooter dealership to do it, even though I've done everything else by myself.

Assuming it is something really simple, do you have a good strong earth (with paint scraped off any contact points) from the battery to the motor?

Can't tell from the photos

1984 Melody Mini / NP50D
1979 Simson Schwalbe KR51/1 (think 2 wheel trabant/ East German Honda Cub)

x2

BTW - In your first photo, there is no starter motor present. The only OEM ground connection for the engine is a green wire with a ring terminal that's on one of the starter motor mounting bolts.

On the Ncy stator, there is a green wire that comes out for the ground, I bolted that to the motor. I think that is the ground. Also, when I touch a multimeter to the + side and the frame it reads 12.4v, which I think means the bike is grounded. I’ll send more detailed pictures tonight.
