Got a spree today. Kinda rough but for my kid.

Post by Gfanblue »

Hello all. I picked a spree today. No idea the year. Oil tank is full but gas was empty. Some fresh ethanol free gas and some 2stroke oil and nothing. I cleaned the carb but no fuel is getting to it. Cranks over good but i don't know if I have a vacuum operated petcock or not. I've owned. Shadow 1100 and a couple Buells so im not a novice. Just need help since I've never owned one of these. Thanks again.

All Sprees come with a vacuum petcock.
It is located behind a small cover just below the seat front.
Find the two hoses that go to petcock.
Determine which is fuel feeding to the carb and which is vacuum feeding from the intake.
Remove both hoses from carb and intake only.
Suck on the vacuum hose and observe the fuel hose for flow of fuel.
If no fuel flows, check filter screen inside tank....and make sure hose isn't cracked or split.

Yeah one hose was off. Wish i had realized that yesterday because yesterday I had spark. Today i replaced the fuel and vacuum line and I have gas in the bowl. But now it has 0 spark. Carb has been thoroughly cleaned and blown out. Ordered a new CDI and I hope that fixes it.
