I have a feeling I have an alternator issue but I want to test it. I was wondering if I could take it off the bike and test it that way rather than running the bike and testing it that way. If anyone knows how to test it that way I would love to know how.

Never tested a stator on a motorbike but have done it with portable generators. Using an ohmeter, verify coils are intact and not OPEN. Visually inspect coil/s for areas that may have overheated. Also be sure to measure resistance from the coils to ground, that should be OPEN. Don't have the specific resistance for the coils themselves but it should be pretty low. There may be multiple coils to test.
