air box cover

ok first off i am new to the scooter world, but not to the mechanicel ablity of engines. so i figured i would reed thru some off the forums to figure out my problems. well i found out the electric choke can couse the motor to
cut out at 1/2 throttle and not run right while the air box cover is on
so i cut the needle off the electric choke so i could use the cover.
it was still cutting out so i took the cover back off and runs fine. well
latter on it would'nt start with the starter and was still kick starting though.
so im guessing bad rings for my last resort.so i take the jug off and the rings where half gone and piston and jug was scored very badly. i sent the jug to the local honda shop to bore out . and new piston and rings
also.
hopefully i can use the cover after putting new rings and piston in . if not
i need to find a nother solution to my problem and hope you guys have
it. your knowledge would be apriciated
